It’s Vmax was...uh, way lower than 331mph.

I think the consensus is that it certainly wasn’t going that fast in the video we’ve been given, and we’re all quietly hoping they just used the wrong footage, but it did achieve the given speed.

Did you watch the video?

If he’s right - and he appears to be - that’s a big enough error, with obvious enough cues, that surely they can’t have missed it . I mean come on - 331mph and still accelerating like a bastard with a gear up your sleeve? That seems like the sort of improbability you’d notice on the day .
The whole thing gets fishier and fishier - or more and more amateur - by the minute.

I confess I did not. I’ve got limited data where I am at the moment. Has it got new revelat ions?

It was absolutely the video of their supposed 331 mph run, the driver conf irmed as much. Their GPS was just way off.

That’s curious. On the Shmee vid he was using the time the car took to travel a known distance between two turnoffs. Basically it said the car was travelling no faster than 4 80km/hr. It seemed pretty conclusive, unless he had the distances wrong or it was actually slowed down.

That’s why they’re running the car again. Something went wrong, they aren’t 100% sure what but the car definitely didn’t go 331 mph despite the GPS indicating that speed, and the engine RPM and gearing indicating that the car should have been well over 300 mph.
